The Foundation's work with music

The programme connects work on scores with the people who study and perform them. It treats making new music and reading its sources as parts of the same enquiry.

  1. Editions

    The editions programme prepares critical scores and monographs for the library and the music stand. Edition numbers give musicians and researchers a way to cite the work they use.

  2. Commissions

    The commissions programme centres on new scores for performers. Composers and cultural partners develop the musical idea together.

  3. Residency & Salon

    Residency gives composers and scholars time for sustained work. The salon is a place to discuss a score or a scholarly question while the work is taking shape.

  4. Archive & Scholarship

    Archive and scholarship connects research on manuscripts and recordings with the study of scores. The programme is for musicians and researchers tracing how a work takes shape.

  5. Teaching

    Masterclasses bring musicians together around a score and the choices involved in performing it. Teaching connects that practice with scholarship, giving students a way to test what they read against what they hear.
